WeGive’s built-in QR code generator is a nice tool, but we don't use it since tracking on the QR codes usage is limited. We’re unable to directly track donation performance coming from QR codes versus standard donation links, so we use an external QR code generator that will allow us to create dynamic QR codes and customize the tracking on them as needed.
A Value-Added Upgrade to WeGive's QR Code Options:
Adding optional UTM fields (source, medium, campaign, term, content) directly into the QR code implementation modal before the QR code is generated. Maybe as an optional, toggled set of fields?
Why This Matters:
  • Allows organizations to download QR codes with UTMs baked in
  • Enables accurate attribution for QR-driven revenue
  • Makes it possible to compare QR code performance vs. direct link performance
  • Improves reporting and optimization for events, mailers, signage, and offline campaigns
Low Barrier Benefit for WeGive:
This approach avoids the need for WeGive to build and maintain a separate UI, reporting layer, or system for tracking QR code usage and performance. By simply allowing UTMs to be appended at the time the QR code is generated, organizations can leverage their existing analytics tools to handle tracking and attribution on their own—keeping the feature lightweight while significantly increasing its value.
This feels like a low-effort, high-impact enhancement that benefits both WeGive and its customers without changing the core donation flow.
Thanks for continuing to build thoughtful tools—we’d love to see this added in a future release.
Appreciate all you guys do to support us!
